ORIGINS | One Last Contest Before Leaving Colorado | Karlis Bowman poster

ORIGINS is a documentary series dedicated to preserving the voices, journeys, and defining moments of the people who have shaped rollerblading culture Some are written through victories. Others through sacrifice, friendship, change, and the quiet moments that happen long before anyone is watching. In our first film, we meet Karlis Bowman—an active-duty military service member, lifelong rollerblader, and competitor standing at the threshold of a new chapter. With the Oklahoma Showdown marking his final competition before leaving Colorado, Karlis reflects on pressure, perseverance, and the realization that even after more than twenty years on skates, the nerves never truly disappear. This isn't a film about second place. It's a film about what it means to leave a place you've called home. It's about the friendships built along the way, the community that continues to inspire us, and the chapters that define us long after the contest is over. Because the greatest stories in rollerblading aren't measured by podiums. They're measured by the lives behind them. Welcome to ORIGINS.
